Lagos Chamber of Commerce International Arbitration Centre and Jus Mundi Announce Partnership for Sharing Non-Confidential Arbitration Materials

Press Release

Paris, 13 December 2022

The Lagos Chamber of Commerce International Arbitration Centre (LACIAC) and Jus Mundi have announced a partnership to make non-confidential LACIAC arbitration awards and related materials freely available to the world, for the benefit of the public good.

Under this important new partnership, Jus Mundi will host select LACIAC non-confidential arbitration awards and information publicly, allowing the general public to search for materials using Jus Mundi’s advanced AI-based platform and research tools.

Commenting on the partnership, Abimbola Akeredolu SAN, FCIArb, Chairman of LACIAC, stated that:

“The LACIAC rules emphasise the importance of confidentiality in arbitration and alternative dispute resolution proceedings for the protection and interest of parties. We however, also recognise the need for transparency to increase certainty and predictability alongside fulfilling the educational needs and growth particularly for young Africans who intend to build a career in this field.”

Jean-Rémi de Maistre, CEO of Jus Mundi, said that:

“LACIAC has become a major hub for international arbitration in West Africa, and Lagos continues to be a trusted and stable seat for arbitration in the region. Jus Mundi is therefore delighted to form this important partnership with LACIAC, to make non-confidential arbitration information openly available to the global public, and in turn enhance the world’s understanding and use of LACIAC arbitration to resolve disputes.”

The partnership will see select LACIAC awards and related materials hosted on Jus Mundi’s comprehensive international law and arbitration database.
