This year, Jus Mundi continues its tradition of impactful giving by making a meaningful contribution of €3,000 to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). This donation reflects our commitment to addressing pressing humanitarian challenges and aligns with our mission to create a more sustainable and equitable future. Made on behalf of our stakeholders, this initiative underscores the trust and partnership that drive our efforts to make a positive difference.

In light of the current instability and worsening humanitarian conditions in the region, we chose to support UNRWA’s mission to deliver essential education, healthcare, and social services to those most in need. Supporting the Gaza Emergency Appeal
This year, Jus Mundi’s donation is directed toward UNRWA’s Gaza Emergency Appeal, an urgent initiative addressing the critical humanitarian needs in Gaza. The appeal focuses on providing emergency assistance, including food security, shelter, medical aid, and psychosocial support for families impacted by ongoing conflict. Our contribution aims to support these life-saving efforts and bring relief to one of the world’s most vulnerable communities.

UNRWA’s Impact in Gaza
UNRWA’s work in Gaza changes lives daily. With 1.4 million registered refugees approximately 74% of the population UNRWA provides critical support to families in need. Nearly one million people rely on food assistance, while 274 schools educate over 278,000 children, offering hope for a brighter future. Additionally, UNRWA operates 22 health centers and 16 relief offices to deliver essential services. Through food distribution centers, microfinance initiatives, and infrastructure maintenance, UNRWA helps communities remain resilient and hopeful amid ongoing challenges.

Who Does UNRWA Serve?
Mandated by the UN General Assembly, UNRWA serves “Palestine refugees,” defined in 1952 as individuals whose “normal place of residence was Palestine between 1 June 1946 and 15 May 1948” and who lost their homes and livelihoods due to the 1948 conflict, along with their descendants. They also provide emergency services to individuals affected by the 1967 conflict and later hostilities who are not registered as Palestine refugees but require humanitarian aid.
Is UNRWA Involved in Political Negotiations?
The UNRWA is a humanitarian organization with a mandate to provide assistance and protection to Palestine refugees pending a just and lasting solution to their plight. However, they highlight the international community’s obligation to deliver a just and durable solution for Palestine refugees.
What Impact Has UNRWA Had?
UNRWA has supported multiple generations of Palestine refugees with health, education, and social assistance. Life expectancy among Palestine refugees aligns with or exceeds that of host country nationals. Our primary health clinics deliver essential care, significantly reducing maternal and infant mortality rates.
Since the 1950s, over 2.5 million Palestine refugees have graduated from our schools, contributing to high literacy rates, especially among women. Studies confirm that our students outperform their peers and excel in emergency education responsiveness. In 2021, 59 of our schools in Gaza and the West Bank won International School Awards from the British Council.
Our microfinance services have issued over $531 million in loans, benefiting women, youth, and vulnerable groups. Additionally, temporary job programs and construction projects create vital employment opportunities, while we employ around 28,000 people, primarily as teachers. We also improve living conditions in refugee camps, ensuring access to water, health, and education facilities and rehabilitating shelters for the most vulnerable.
