BAIAC and Jus Mundi Announce a Partnership for Sharing Non-Confidential Arbitration Awards

Press Release

Paris, 12 December 2023

The Beihai Asia International Arbitration (BAIAC) and Jus Mundi are delighted to announce a new partnership to share non-confidential BAIAC arbitration awards and related BAIAC arbitration materials globally, for greater understanding of arbitration in ASEAN Plus Six for the benefit of the public good.

Jus Mundi will host select BAIAC non-confidential arbitration awards and related information on its open public database, allowing anyone in the world to search these materials using Jus Mundi’s open research tools.

Speaking about the partnership, Professor Steve Ngo, President of BAIAC, stated that:

“This collaboration emphasizes BAIAC’s dedication to “making arbitration make sense” and participation in advancing the collaborative development of international dispute resolution, also leveraging on Singapore’s position as a global ADR hub. Arbitral service providers need to enhance value for consumers while being cognizant of their disenchantment and recognising the potential of human inventiveness. The cooperation with Jus Mundi is pertinent in this era where conventional wisdom is changing and established methods are challenged.”

Jean-Rémi de Maistre, CEO & Co-Founder of Jus Mundi, said:

“Established in 2019, BAIAC represents the first time a Chinese arbitration commission has established an international arbitration centre in Singapore. For this reason, Jus Mundi is delighted to work with BAIAC to bring non-confidential BAIAC arbitral awards into the public domain, in the name of better global understanding of arbitration in the ASEAN Plus Six, bringing a greater focus onto dispute resolution in the region.”

The partnership will see select BAIAC arbitration awards and related materials hosted on Jus Mundi’s comprehensive international law and arbitration database.

About BAIAC

Its focus is on providing cost-effective and efficient international arbitration particularly for small to medium-value disputes, prevalent in cross-border transactions in the Asian region. By leveraging Singapore’s position as a global dispute resolution hub, BAIAC aims to cater to the needs of parties involved in initiatives like the Belt and Road Initiative, Asia trade cooperation, and investments between Chinese and ASEAN Plus Six entities. The BAIAC Arbitration Rules whilst incorporating the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules include unique features for small claims and expedited procedures, developed through consultations with arbitral users and industry experts.
