Press Release
Paris, France – November 12, 2020
The International Bar Association & Jus Mundi have launched a worldwide collaborative partnership to collect non-confidential commercial arbitration awards and make them easily accessible to the global arbitration community.
The IBA x Jus Mundi Partnership is the first collaborative initiative to address the global inaccessibility issue in commercial arbitration. The partnership’s goal is to shape the development of international arbitration and increase access to legal information for arbitration by bringing together the international arbitration community.
Gaetan Verhoosel (Partner, Three Crowns) and Philippe Pinsolle (Head of international arbitration for continental Europe, Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan), present Co-Chairs of the Arbitration Committee, commented:
“We are delighted with this partnership between the Arbitration Committee and Jus Mundi, which will provide practitioners and scholars around the world with free access to an extensive, searchable database of arbitral awards and significantly enhance the legal community’s ability to identify and analyse legal developments in key areas in a variety of legal systems. We thank the Co-Chairs and all members of the Subcommittee for all their efforts.”
Jus Mundi will publish thousands of awards from more than 20 jurisdictions already collected by the IBA Subcommittee on International Commercial Arbitration in the coming weeks.
All of the data will be pseudonymized & comes with Jus Mundi’s powerful tools & filters, so in just a few seconds, the arbitration practitioner could be reading a commercial arbitration award relevant to their ongoing case or research. Thanks to Jus Mundi’s user-friendly platform backed by artificial intelligence, it will be effortless to refine the search, drawing on the latest arbitration data.
Jus Mundi has already been publishing commercial arbitration awards on its search engine since April 2020, and this partnership will further increase Jus Mundi’s commercial arbitration coverage. This will also boost the search results presented by Jus Mundi’s popular features, Arbitrator Analytics & Conflict Checker.
Dietmar Prager (Partner, Debevoise & Plimpton) & Lijun Cao (Partner, Zhong Lun), the officers of the IBA Subcommittee on International Commercial Arbitration, added:
“The IBA Subcommittee on International Commercial Arbitration Case Law collects international commercial arbitration awards and periodically publishes reports about international arbitration case law on legal issues of importance to the international arbitration community. We believe that access to international commercial arbitration awards can strengthen the legitimacy of international arbitration and contribute to the development of the law. We are delighted to learn that Jus Mundi, which hosts a comprehensive database on international arbitration, shares the same goal, and we are proud to partner with Jus Mundi on this exciting project.”
Marie-Hélène Ludwig, head of legal content at Jus Mundi & Jean-Rémi de Maistre, CEO of Jus Mundi commented:
“The IBA and Jus Mundi are both working towards assisting the legal community for global stability and peace by promoting law and justice. We look forward to strengthening the legitimacy of international arbitration as a tool to reinforce the international rule of law. This global collaborative ecosystem will make commercial arbitration readily available on Jus Mundi by bringing together the international legal community. We hope everyone benefits from this first-of-its-kind initiative to improve legal understanding, decision-making, and efficiency,”
noted Marie-Hélène Ludwig, head of legal content at Jus Mundi & Jean-Rémi de Maistre, CEO of Jus Mundi.
Collaboration is key to the success of this partnership. The IBA & Jus Mundi have urged the global arbitration community to come together to fix the ongoing accessibility issue in commercial arbitration. This partnership hopes to create the virtual global library of non-confidential commercial arbitration data with Jus Mundi’s powerful tools to search through the collection.
The process of contributing non-confidential commercial arbitration awards is easy & comes with benefits.
